Tigers drop tough one at Bethel

After a thrilling 4-3 win over Freed-Hardeman on Saturday, Georgetown looked for more of the same at Bethel on Sunday. The day came right down to the end, but the Wildcats had just enough to scratch out a 4-3 win.

Despite a 6-1 win from Parker Clarke and Tsugunosuke Hirose in #2 doubles, Bethel was able to win the team point with wins in first & third doubles action.

The Tigers made up ground in singles. Leo Schirmer won a 3-set thriller, 7-6 in the third, to get GC on the board. Parker Clarke picked up a point after his opponent retired midway through the 2nd set with Clarke already leading the match. Stephen Taylor made it 3 straight wins in singles as he won his match, 6-3, 6-3. Matthew Smith was in a tight battle late in the 3rd before having to retire, giving the point to Bethel. The Wildcats would take the final singles match for the overall win.

Georgetown will come home on Wednesday to battle Tennessee Southern.
