Tigers fall to #12 Cumberland

Rain forced the Georgetown-Cumberland match to be moved to Top Seed Tennis in Nicholasville, KY on Thursday. The 12th-ranked Phoenix flew high even indoors as they took down the Tigers by a 6-1 final team score.

The Phoenix quickly took the doubles point by winning the 1st 2 matches, 6-1 and 6-3. The final doubles match featuring the Tigers' Stephen Taylor and Logan Smallwood would end 5-5 and not be finished.

In singles action, Smallwood picked up the lone Tigers point on the afternoon as he won in #5 singles, 7-6, 6-1. Tsugunosuke Hirose played a long, tight match, but ultimately fell, 7-6, in a thrilling 3rd set.

The Tigers will be back at the Lackey Tennis Center on April 11th to take on Midway.
