Men's Tennis season ends in MSC 1st Round
Georgetown took down Freed-Hardeman, 4-3, in the regular season. The Tigers looked to do the same in the opening round of the Mid-South Conference Tournament, but it was not meant to be. FHU exacted revenge by beating Georgetown, 4-2, ending the Tigers season.
In doubles, Maxcene Barriere and Chase Hechemy fought hard but fell short, 4-6. Parker Clarke and Tsugunosuke Hirose also dropped their doubles match, 2-6. Stephen Taylor and Logan Smallwood pulled out a 6-3 win in 3rd doubles, but the Lions had already clinched the team doubles point.
As the action moved to singles, Barriere went the distance in first singles, but the 3rd set went the Lions way, 6-3, putting FHU up 2-0 on the day. Leo Schirmer got the Tigers on the board in 2nd singles with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 win. Logan Smallwood also got GC in the scoring column with a 6-4, 7-6 (4) win. It wouldn't be enough as Parker Clarke and Stephen Taylor came up short in singles to clinch the win for FHU. Tsugu Hirose did not complete his match in singles as FHU had already clinched the match win. Hirose was leading 3-1 in the 3rd was the match was called.
