Bolton Wins High Jump as Track Posts Solid Day at Tiger Paw Invitational

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Georgetown College sophomore Sarah Bolton nabbed an event win on Friday as the Georgetown indoor track and field team competed for the first time as a full team this season. Bolton and the Tigers took part in the Tiger Paw Invitational on Friday at Louisville's Norton Center - the second consecutive weekend that the Tigers have headed to that facility for a meet.

There were 21 teams represented at the event, representing the NAIA, NCAA Divisions II and III, and the NJCAA. Team scores were not kept for the event.

Bolton began her day by posting a top-3 time in the prelims for the women's 60-meter hurdles, crossing the line in a time of 9.50 seconds. The performance was one of seven top-10s notched by the Tigers on the track on the day. When the action moved to the field, Bolton posted a mark of 1.55 meters in the high jump, winning the event which featured 11 jumpers from seven schools.

Madelyn Waltmon posted the Tigers' second best finish of the day, placing second in the 800-meters with a time of 2:26.51, and Myah Menfee placed fourth in the finals of the 60-meter hurdles.

The day did not go quite as well for the Georgetown men, as senior Jaxon Downs posted the best finish of the day for the Georgetown men with a time of 9:33.40 in the men's 3,000-meter run.

The Tigers will have a three week break before the Mid-South Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships. The Championships will also be at Louisville's Norton Center, and will take place on Friday and Saturday, February 18 and 19. The meet will be the final chance for Georgetown athletes to hit NAIA qualifying standards and qualify for the NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships.
