Volleyball sweeps Siena Heights

After 2 grueling 5-set matches in the first 3 of the 2024 season, Men's Volleyball needed less than 90 minutes to dispatch of Siena Heights on Sunday afternoon at Davis-Reid Alumni Gym. Georgetown took care of the Saints, 25-21, 25-17, and 25-20 to improve to 3-1 on the season.

Siena Heights looked strong offensively in the 1st set, hitting .471, but serve errors prevented the Saints from seizing control. The teams split the 1st 30 points of the set before the Tigers scored 3 straight to take an 18-15 lead and never trail again. Georgetown closed out the set on a SHU serve error.

In the 2nd with the set tied at 3, Georgetown scored 4 straight on the hands of the Polish tandem of Krzysztof Kowalski and Adam Szewinski. The teams traded points until the score reached 16-13, Georgetown. At that point, Tiger All-American, Ryan Gunn, made his presence felt with 3 straight kills to shove the lead to 6. Gunn would later serve out the final 3 points of the set for a 25-17 win.

To start the 3rd, Georgetown was out to end matters quickly. The Tigers raced out to an 8-1 lead and were never seriously threatened from there. Siena Heights made a late charge but never got closer than 4 as Georgetown closed out the sweep with a 25-20 win in the 3rd.

Krzysztof Kowalski led the offense with 13 kills and hit .269. Ryan Gunn ended the day with 11 kills, while Kacper Dobrowolski dished out 28 more assists.

The Tigers will next be in action next Saturday at Davis-Reid Alumni Gym against Goshen. First serve is set for 1:00pm.
