Tiger harriers finished third against MSC foes

Georgetown College harriers are not allowing the disruption of a normal fall schedule stop them from continuing to improve and show signs of an exciting future.

For the second straight race, the cross country men finished third. Saturday they ran in Drakes Creek Scramble in Bowling Green, Ky. against five other Mid-South Conference opponents. Lindsey Wilson College and Shawnee State were the only two to score less points on the day.

"That's a great showing of consistency from race to race as well as performance against our conference opponents," said GC coach Luke Garnett. "We weren't as close together in the finishes as we were in Louisville, but they raced incredibly well."

Nick Clark paced the team again. He finished 12th out of 75 runners. The other scorers came in 18th, 19th, 21st and 24th. Ben Kinsey and Bradley Perkins joined Clark in the top 20 runners, while Wyatt Gatewood and Justin Tavner finished in the top 25.

Jaxon Downs and Isaac Madding crossed in the important sixth and seventh spots as all Tiger scoring positions finished in the top 30.

The women finished fifth on Saturday paced by Jodie Smith. Avery Renner and Rachel Puckett were right there with her as all three finished in the top 20 of 66 runners.

"First two races have both been fifth and with the exact same point score," Garnett said. "With drastically different opponents, course and weather, that's good. The gap between our top three and our fourth and fifth runner needs to tighten. We finish off the fall season this weekend at Asbury."

Sarah Bailey and Manny Stovik finished in the top 35, while Katie Milby and Riley Davis gave GC all runners in the top 40 finishes.
