Big innings hurt Tigers against Blue Raiders

Georgetown College softball traveled to play Lindsey Wilson College Thursday, as the Mid-South Conference foes attempted to play around the rain coming to Kentucky over the next few days. The second doubleheader is a to be determined situation with a current date set for Sunday in Columbia, Ky.

The Tigers (5-5, 0-4) took the early edge in game one, but a four-run fifth was too much to overcome on the Blue Raiders' (16-0, 10-0) ace Annabelle Ramirez.

Game two was highlighted by a pair of LWC three-run home runs to break the game open. GC fell 4-2 and 8-1.

Megan Brankamp held the Lindsey offensive quiet for four innings, but a hit batter, a walk and a single started to unravel the game with one out in the bottom of the fifth.

The Tiger runs came off solo shots from Kaylyn Barnett and Peyton Beger. Barnett took an 0-2 count over the fence as the lead-off batter in the top of the second, while Beger's came in the top of the fifth on an 0-1 count to start the inning.

A two-out rally started game two for the home team. LWC got a pair of singles that set up Brianna Griffiths first of two three-run home runs.

Georgetown got a run back in the top of the fourth for a 3-1 game when Carly Oliver took a 1-0 pitch over the fence to start the inning.
