Early Firehawks offense sets Tigers back

UT-Southern took advantage of 1st inning walks, putting 4 runs on the board to lead off the game, en route to a 9-1, 6-inning win to even the MSC series.

Kelsie Hill got the start for Georgetown, but struggled with command. The first four Firehawk batters reached via walk or HBP. Hill would be replaced in the top of the 1st by Emma Cummings, but the Firehawks got 4 runs on the board. They would add 2 more runs in the top of the 2nd off Cummings to take a 6-0 lead. The Tigers got on the board with a mammoth home run from Sarah Claxon, but it would turn out to be the Tigers only tally of the game.

UT-Southern would answer with 2 more runs in the top of the 3rd, pushing its lead to 8-1. They would add another run in the top of the 6th, and with the Tigers unable to score in the bottom of the 6th, the game ended via the run rule.

Outside of the Claxon home run, Mallory Myers tallied a double, while Stevie Shepherd and Ella Forish singled, for the 4 hits in the Tiger column in the game.
