Bats go quiet in Game 2 loss

After leaving 11 runners on base in game 1 of Saturday, Georgetown felt confident the bats would convert those into runs in game 2. In fact, the opposite happened as the Tigers mustered just 3 hits on the afternoon and dropped game 2 to Freed-Hardeman by an 8-0 final.

After a quiet 1st, the Lady Lions went to work in the top of the 2nd against Elle Prewitt in the circle. With 2 on, FHU got consecutive doubles totaling 3 runs on the board. Prewitt left another runner stranded in the inning but the damage was done. She was able to wiggle out of a jam in the top of the 3rd as FHU put a runner on 3rd with 1 out. Prewitt induced a pop-up and groundout to keep the score at 3-0.

Georgetown got the bottom of the 3rd off to a nice start with a leadoff single from Allison Coffey. The momentum was short-lived as Destiny Wallace lined out to short, and Coffey could not get back to 1st in time, resulting in a 6-3 double play to wipe out the threat. FHU added another run in the top of the 4th with a sacrifice fly that followed a lead-off triple.

The Lions added another run in the 5th and 3 more in the top of the 6th for an 8-0 lead. Georgetown could not counter in the bottom of the 6th, leading to the game via the run rule.

Elle Prewitt took the loss after going 5+ innings and allowing 7 runs. Peyton Bibb finished out the 6th inning, allowing the final run of the game.
