Tigers dominate in the fourth to beat Morehead

Georgetown College women's basketball kept it close in the first 20 minutes, but an early run by Morehead State University in the third looked to give the Eagles control. The Tigers never laid down though, kept clawing, and pulled out a commanding 72-63 exhibition win.

Freshman Dynastee White and senior MSU transfer Jazzmyn Elston led the charge. White finished with 16 points, while Elston had 14. Grace White (11 points, 10 rebounds) and Madison Darnell (10 points) also reached double figures.

Morehead came out of the halftime break on a tear – 13-4 run – and a double-digit lead, 49-38. With 5:02 left, GC woke up. In the final 15-plus minutes of action, the visitors scored 34 points, allowed just 14, and defeated the NCAA Division I program.

The Tigers went on an 8-0 run to pull back in the game, but a late bucket by the Eagles had the home team up five after three quarters. The rally was complete when Lexi Stapleton made a steal, found Dynastee White on the break. She was fouled, went to the line and made both for a 58-57 lead. GC never trailed again.

Grace White's defensive rebound led to an Elston layup, capping a 12-0 run that put the game away with just less than three minutes left. A mini spurt by the Eagles brought it to a seven-point game, but they never got closer.

Georgetown returns to regular season action 6 pm Tuesday hosting University of Saint Francis.
