Stevenson, Suljemani lead Tigers rout of Miami-Hamilton

AJ Stevenson and Lisa Suljemani combined for 43 points off the bench to lead a Georgetown rout of Miami-Hamilton, 108-52, at Davis-Reid Alumni Gym Friday night. The 108 points marked the 2nd most the Tigers have posted in the Jeff Nickel era.

The Tigers (2-1) got off to a quick start against the Harriers (2-3), scoring 9 of the 1st 11 points in an attempt to set the tone early. Miami-Hamilton would not relent early and fought back to within 3 with 4 minutes left in the 1st quarter. Enter Lisa Suljemani. 2 threes, 2 free throws and a jumper from the senior got the Tigers back on track. Suljemani scored 10 of the Tigers final 13 points of the 1st quarter, leading a 13-2 GC run to close the quarter. Georgetown led 25-11 after 1.

Cassie Colon picked up the scoring to start the 2nd. The junior scored 9 of the 1st 11 of the period for the Tigers, pushing the lead out to 36-15 just over 3 minutes in. AJ Stevenson then got her night going with back-to-back threes to keep the Harriers at bay. Jalynn Landversicht would connect on Georgetown's fifth 3 of the quarter in the final minute, giving the Tigers a 54-27 lead at the break.

The scoring balance from the Tigers continued in the 3rd quarter, and thus, the lead continued to grow. AJ Stevenson scored 7 of her game-high 23 in the 3rd, pushing Georgetown to a 78-45 lead entering the 4th quarter. The Tigers went on a 13-0 run to start the 4th quarter, pushing the lead to 46. Stevenson would add 10 more points in the 4th. Izzy Lamparty put up 8 points and 8 rebounds in the 4th alone, as Georgetown outscored Miami-Hamilton, 30-7, in the 4th, sealing the Tigers rout and a 108-52 win.

Stevenson finished the night with 23 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals. Suljemani ended the night with 20. Cassie Colon added 15 points and 7 rebounds, while Izzy Lamparty nearly had a double-double with 14 points and 9 boards. Jordan Rogers added 11 and Callie Jackson finished with 10. The Tigers also forced 26 Harrier turnovers, leading to 34 GC points.

The Tigers are next in action on Thursday, November 17th to kick off Mid-South Conference play. Georgetown heads to Ohio to take on MSC newcomer, Wilberforce. Tipoff is set for 5:30pm.
