White-hot shooting powers Tigers over LWC

After one of the worst shooting days in recent memory last Saturday against UPike, Georgetown made up for it and then some as the Tigers shoot 62% and knock down 13 3-pointers in a 99-68 rout of Lindsey Wilson.

#22 Georgetown (7-4, 4-2) struggled through the 1st 10 minutes to find its rhythm, shooting just 39% over the 1st 10 minutes and trailed Lindsey Wilson, 19-18, going to the 2nd. In the 2nd quarter, Georgetown torched the nets in a shooting display rarely seen around the Mid-South Conference. The Tigers went 13-17 from the field and 7-9 from 3. 11 bench points from AJ Stevenson spearheaded a 33-point quarter, breaking the game open and sending the Tigers to a 51-33 halftime lead. Defense also played a major factor in the 2nd as the Blue Raiders (5-6, 1-6) shot just 4-16 (0-6 3pt) in putting up just 14 points.

In the locker room, Lindsey Wilson went searching for answers, but in the 3rd quarter, Georgetown just kept firing. The Tigers shot 10-15 from the field in the 3rd in putting another 27 points on the board and growing the lead to 78-53 entering the 4th. Georgetown's depth got its chance to flex in the 4th as 4 of the starting 5 sat out the quarter. The offense kept coming as GC shot 9-13 in the 4th, en route to the 99-68 win.

Offensive balance was the deciding factor on the night. Eight Tigers scored between 9 and 15 points. In her first start of the year, Jalynn Landversicht led the way with 15 points and 8 rebounds. AJ Stevenson and Callie Jackson each put in 14 off the bench, followed by 12 from Jordan Rogers, 11 from Erin Toller, 10 from Madison Darnell, and 9 each from Izzy Lamparty and Cassie Colon. Sophie Smith had the offense humming on all cylinders as she dished out 10 assists. The Tigers shot 13-24 from 3-point range and 71% overall over the final 3 quarters.

Georgetown will look to keep the shooting roll going on Saturday as it welcomes Campbellsville to Davis-Reid Alumni Gym at 1:00pm.
