Toller's big night leads Georgetown over Bethel

Erin Toller arrived at Georgetown with a reputation of a big-time scorer. The freshman lived up to the hype on Thursday night, knocking down 7 3-pointers, en route to 30 points, and sending Georgetown past Bethel, 79-66.

The Tigers (11-5, 7-3) fell behind Bethel early in the game as the Wildcats (7-9, 3-7) shot 50% from the field in the 1st quarter, while Georgetown shot just 5-14 in the frame, giving Bethel a 19-14 lead after 1. The Tiger duo of Erin Toller and Lisa Suljemani began to lead GC back in the 2nd quarter. The tandem combined for 15 of the Tigers' 19 points, twice digging the team out of an 8-point hole, and cutting the Wildcats lead to just 1 at halftime.

After an early Bethel basket in the 3rd, the Tigers responded with a 13-2 run to take a 47-38 lead late in the 3rd. Georgetown would never trail again. The Tigers built on their lead in the 4th as 2 early 3s from Erin Toller pushed the lead to double digits, thwarting any hope of a Bethel rally. Toller would finish the night 7-13 from 3 and 30 points in total, 28 over the final 3 quarters.

Izzy Lamparty and Lisa Suljemani each finished with 13 points. Madison Darnell turned in another solid performance with 8 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists and she continues to climb for the school's all-time rebounding record. The Tigers also got a strong debut out of Raevyn Harris, the sophomore transfer from Cleveland State University. In just 11 minutes, the 6'3" Harris pulled down 7 rebounds, scored a bucket and assisted on another.

Solid free throw shooting helped the Tigers down the stretch as they went 12-15 in the 2nd half and 18-21 for the game. Georgetown also turned 11 Bethel turnovers into 16 points, whereas the Wildcats could only muster 3 points off 11 Tiger turnovers.

Georgetown is next in action on Saturday against Freed-Hardeman. Tipoff is at 1:00pm ET at Davis-Reid Alumni Gym.
