Tigers fall to #3 Campbellsville

AJ Stevenson knocked down a 3-pointer just 10 seconds into Thursday's showdown with #3 Campbellsville. The other side countered with 9 straight and never trailed again. Georgetown trailed by as many as 30 in an 82-65 loss, dropping the Tigers to 3-3 in the Mid-South Conference.

As has been the case for many games over the years, turnovers were Georgetown's undoing in the 1st half. GC gave the ball up 14 times, leading directly to 20 Campbellsville points. Although GC hit 3 of 6 three-pointers in the first, they still trailed by 10 heading to the 2nd, 25-15.

The 2nd quarter told two stories: Campbellsville's scorching offense and Jalynn Landversicht keeping GC within reach. Campbellsville shot a staggering 75% (12-16) in the 2nd, while forcing 7 more Georgetown turnovers. Conversely, Georgetown shot just 3-11 in the period. Jalynn Landversicht found herself at the line early and often in the quarter. The senior shot 7-10 from the line in the 2nd and scored 12 of Georgetown's 14 points, but Campbellsville carried a 51-29 lead into the halftime break.

Georgetown's defense and ball-handling improved tremendously after halftime. In the 3rd, Georgetown limited Campbellsville to just 6-16 shooting and 18 points. GC also took care of the ball much better in the 3rd, giving it away just 3 times. Georgetown just could not find the range from the field, going just 5-16 in the quarter for 12 points.

The 4th quarter was Georgetown's strongest in the game. GC scored 24 points, aided by 9 offensive rebounds. Georgetown took 3 times as many shots as did Campbellsville in the quarter, but the deficit was just too great to overcome.

The trio of Jalynn Landversicht, Ellie Wilkerson, and Trinity Klock combined for 20 points in the 4th. They were the only 3 Tigers to reach double-figures in the game. Landversicht turned in one of her best career nights with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Wilkerson scored 11, including 3-3 from beyond the arc. Klock ended the night with 11 points and 8 rebounds.

Georgetown will look for a bounce back on Saturday at Lindsey Wilson. Tip time is set for 2:00pm.
