Tigers demolish Tennessee Wesleyan for 1st AAC win

In its 1st ever game as a member of the AAC, Georgetown sent a statement by dominating Tennessee Wesleyan, 22-2.

The Tigers came roaring out of the gates. Madison Diaz scored just 48 seconds into the 1st quarter, setting up an offensive onslaught that left the opponent in shock. Mac Miller continues her dazzling display as she scored 4 times in the 1st. Diaz would add a 2nd, and the Tigers also got goals from Faith Boa, and Katerina Gilbert to take a stunning 8-0 lead to the 2nd.

Maddie Brock picked up the scoring in the 2nd as she tallied a hat trick in less than 8 minutes. Aubree Lair picked up a goal in the 2nd off a nice assist from Maggie Byrd. The Tigers got the running clock going as they took a 13-1 lead into the 3rd quarter.

GC would score 9 more times in the 2nd half. Katerina Gilbert tallied 3, as did Melanie Wieland. Brock, Lair, and Boa also each found the back of the net, sending the Tigers to its impressive 22-goal result.

The defense was also strong in this game. Olivia Yakel got the start in net and made 3 saves on 4 shots faced. The Tigers allowed just 6 shots on goal the entire day. The strong defense also forced Tennessee Wesleyan into 24 turnovers and 26 fouls.

Mac Miller's 4 goals give her 25 on the season, currently tied for the most in the NAIA.

The Tigers make their hometown debut on Saturday, taking on AAC member, St. Andrews, at 1:00pm. Due to construction at Toyota Stadium, the game will be played at Great Crossing High School in Georgetown.
