Youth leads offensive charge in 6-0 win

Georgetown College women's soccer graduated three players that produced two-thirds of the 2018 goals and more than half of the team's assists. This might have concerned coach Leah Crews Castleman, but not with her new crop of athletes.

Saturday in the season opener against future Mid-South Conference foe Freed-Hardeman University, the Tigers (1-0) scored half a dozen with two freshmen scoring half and two sophomores accounting for two more.

Freshman Rosie Jones got it rolling with two goals in the first 11 minutes. Fellow rookie Libby Miller finished off the half as GC led 4-0 at the break.

Sophomore Maggie Vanluit had the final tally in the 6-0 victory at Toyota Stadium.

Sophomore Haven Lochow had an unassisted goal and senior Emily Perry found the back of the net on assist from freshman Kynidee Allen.

Vanluit set up Jones first goal while senior Keri O'Toole assisted the second.

The Tigers netted six goals with 15 shots on frame. The veteran defense pitched a shutout while Megan Martin and Sarah Slusher split time in goal.

GC is back in action 5 pm Wednesday against Union University in Barbourville, Ky.
