Tigers, Fighting Scots end in draw

Georgetown College women's soccer needed to labor a little longer on Labor Day. The Tigers played to a double overtime draw with Ohio Valley University. It was a fairly balanced match against the new NAIA program. The Fighting Scots are transitioning from NCAA Division II.

Both teams had five shots on goal, while OVU had 13 overall shots to GC's (2-2-1) 10. Twice it looked as if the visitors (0-0-1) had taken a lead. The first goal was nullified by offsides and the second by a foul.

Late in the second half it appeared a shot by the Tigers crossed the line as the OVU keeper blocked the shot into the cross bar. However, it bounded off the bar and straight back onto the field of play, being ruled to never break the plain fully.

The Tigers were missing the speed of attacker Libby Miller and senior leader Madie Sparks. GC has some time to recoup from the flurry of games – five in 16 days – as the team does not play again until 4 pm Sept. 15.
