Quarterfinals loss ends Women's Soccer season

Georgetown entered Friday's MSC Quarterfinal against Cumberland shorthanded as the Tigers were without the services of starting keeper, Daysia Thompson. Kayla Serdenis filled in admirably in goal, but it wasn't enough as Cumberland dominated Georgetown, 5-0, to end the Tigers' season.

Cumberland put Serdenis to the test early and often as the Phoenix got its first goal in the 11th minute, followed by another early in the 14th minute for a quick lead. The shots kept coming on Serdenis with the Phoenix breaking through once more in the 23rd minute to put the Tigers in a 3-0 hole. Cumberland scored 1 more in the 38th minute to take a 4-0 lead to halftime.

The Phoenix added another goal in the 77th minute for the final result. Despite 5 goals scored, Kayla Serdenis still tallied 10 saves on the day. Georgetown's offense mustered a single shot attempt for the entire 90 minutes. Kendyl Rumple's go in the 65th minute was all the Tigers could juster. Cumberland finished with a total shot advantage of 27-1, including 15-0 on goal.

Georgetown turns its focus to the offseason to build on a roster that will have a number of key players expected back, but the Tigers will have to replace a terrific senior class who played in a Tiger uniform for the final time today.
