Bianchi Wins MSC High Jump; Tigers Sixth in MSC Championship
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Georgetown College's Emma Bianchi has been one of the best high jumpers in the Mid-South Conference all season. On Friday, she proved she was the best indoor high jumper in the Conference.
Bianchi won the individual high jump title at the MSC Indoor Championship, as she was the only athlete to clear 1.60 meters in the event. The performance was a part of a 6th-place, 59 point effort from Georgetown as a team.
Bianchi's win wasn't the only highlight performance from Georgetown in the high jump. Her teammates Sarah Bolton and Myah Menfee also placed in the top-5, Bolton at 1.55 meters and Menfee at 1.50. Bolton also posted a second place finish in the long jump, and Bolton and Menfee finished 3rd and 4th in the 60-meter hurdles in a photo finish.
Madelyn Waltmon was second in the 800-meter run, and the women's 4-by-400 meter relay team also posted a top-five finish.
Bianchi's performance earned her first-team all-conference honors in the high-jump, and Bolton was second-team all-conference in both the high jump and the long jump.
The meet wraps up the indoor track and field season for Georgetown. The Tigers will not turn their focus to the outdoor season, which is scheduled to begin at the Transylvania Invitational on March 18-19.
