Kainer, Shepard pick up wins at Wildcat Open

Rebecca Kainer continued her strong start to the spring season with a 1st place finish in the 800m to lead the Tigers at the IWU Wildcat Open on Friday.

Kainer ran the event in a time of 2:26.52 to claim the top spot. Shelby Shepard also brought home a win in the 3K race with a time of 12:57.91.

Jenna Tipton ran 4th in the 400m with a time of 1:07.34. The Tigers also brought home a 4th place finish in the 4x400 relay. The team of Grace White, Lexi Ralph, Liza Pollio, and Rebecca Kainer finished in a time of 4:42.93.

The trio of Pollio, Ralph, and White also earned top-7 finishes in the 1 mile run. Pollio finished 4th with a time of 5:49.42. Ralph came home in 6th with a time of 6:03.82. White ran 7th in 6:21.91.

Phoebe Tripure brought the team a top-10 finish in the shot put. She finished 7th with a best throw of 6.88m. Danni Bruce and Neveah Wright finished 10th and 12th, respectively, in the 200m.

The Tigers now get set for the MSC Championships on Thursday, February 13th, in Louisville.
