Women's Track Takes 4th at UC Pepsi Invite

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - Competing for the second weekend in a row, the Georgetown College women's track and field team headed to the Pepsi University of the Cumberlands Invitational and Distance Carnival over the weekend, and the Tigers shined for the second weekend in a row.

Georgetown grabbed another top-5 team finish, this time slotting in fourth out of 17 teams, and they posted a team total of 66 points. The Tigers scored in 10 different events, encompassing sprint and distance disciplines on the track, and jumping and throwing events on the field.

On the track, Libby Miller grabbed a fifth place finish in the 100-meter dash, and she nabbed second place in the 200-meters. Lani Irwin finished sixth in the 800-meter run, and as the disciplines shifted to the distance events, the hits kept on coming. Sarah Bailey took sixth in the 1,500 meter run, and Rachel Puckett crossed the line in seventh in 5,000-meter run.

Sarah Bolton grabbed a win in the 100-meter hurdles, marking the second week in a row that a Tiger has won that event. The Georgetown 4x100-meter relay team capped off the Tigers' scoring on the track with a third place finish as well.

On the field, The Tigers continued to dominate in the high jump. Bolton took her second event win of the weekend, and she was joined in the top-5 by teammates Jalynn Landversicht (2nd) and Amber Brown (5th). Bolton also finished third in the long jump, and Landversicht took seventh in the javelin.

The Tigers will be back on the track on Thursday at the University of the Cumberlands Quad Meet.
