Offense struggles in 3-0 loss at Campbellsville

After a quick 4-1 lead in the 1st set, Georgetown's offense struggled for most of the night at Campbellsville en route to a 3-0 loss.

Giara Ferrari, Makena Walker, and Ana Darr all led the quick start for Georgetown. Campbellsville came back to tie the set at 5 and then went scored 7 of the next 10 to assert control in the first. Georgetown got a point back thanks to a Reagan Kupper kill to cut the deficit to 12-9, but CU scored 4 straight and never looked back. Campbellsville hit a stunning .522 in the opening set for a 25-17 win.

Set 2 was tight early on as the teams split the first 22 points. With the score tied at 11, Campbellsville turned up its play with an 11-2 run and a stunning 22-13 lead. Georgetown got a point back thanks to a Maria Alves kill but the momentum could not be turned. GC hit just .033 in the set as Campbellsville rolled to a 25-15 win for a 2-0 lead in the match.

Set 3 proved to be a repeat of the last half of set 2. Georgetown held an early 2-1 lead thanks to 2 more kills from Alves. Campbellsville then scored 12 of the next 13 points to rocket out to a 13-3 lead over Georgetown. Georgetown fought back with a 5-1 run of its own to cut the deficit to 14-8. Campbellsville took the momentum right back and ran away with the set. CU ended the set on an 11-2 run to win it 25-10 and seal the sweep.

Campbellsville's defense proved too strong on this night as Georgetown hit just .082 and could not fight through 15 combined blocks from CU.

The Tigers step out of conference on Saturday with matches against Alice Lloyd and St. Mary of the Woods starting at 3:00pm.
