Geary wins Great Lakes Challenge by 21 seconds

On a muddy day in Grand Rapids, MI, Kirsten Geary proved a cut above a field of 184 other runners and put on a dominating performance. Geary won the 5K event in a time of 18:50, nearly 22 seconds faster than anyone else in the field. The event served as a final tuneup for the Tigers ahead of the Mid-South Conference Championships in 2 weeks, and Geary's performance surely put everyone on notice. She averaged 3:46 per K, which was 4 seconds faster on average than her closest competitor.

Clare Wilber was the next Tiger across the line in a time of 21:04, which placed 50th. Isabel Wilber was not far behind with a 22:05, followed by Lexus Ralph's 22:09. Riley Davis and Kirstin Thomas also ran in the mud with respective times of 22:53 and 24:12.

As a team, the Tigers placed 12th overall out of 18. They'll now prepare for the MSC Championships in Bowling Green on the 1st weekend of November.
